My principle Revo (from Jan 2000) and an undated one inherited recently, were both afflicted with short battery lives, and blanked while nearly full. Various hard resets had no effect.
Then, I happened on several references on a drain/charge cycle in the Revo & Mako threads and promptly applied my newfound knowledge. After the very first cycle, both machines retained full functionality down to 1%!! I've continued to apply the cycle over the past few days to make sure the pattern is stable, but it does appear that nearly original performance has been restored - amazing, for six-year old machines with all original parts...
So this post is simply to thank the numerous contributors who have gone to the trouble to fine-tune a solution for the infamous battery problem. I've no intention of changing to any other non-keyboard machines (I'm a GTD convert!).
Now if only I were comfortable copying the contents from my main machine to the backup ;-)
Oh, and quick charging question - once the red quick charge light goes out, how many times should I restart quick charging by unplugging/replugging the mains? I don't notice any real diminish in the time of this topping-off process - the quick charge sets in for another 3-5 minutes at 327mA but even after I go through a number of restarts, the time remains the same. The battery shows 100%. I then leave it plugged in overnight for trickle charging...
