Every time I try to move a picture over from my PC to my Psion it gets automatically converted to the Psion sketch program and mucked up, even if I convert it to 256 colour first.
By mucked up I mean shades of one colour.
What the blazes is going on?
And while we're on the subject, why has the microphone on my S7 never worked. My S3a, S5 and S5mx one always did!
the picture is converted by Psiwin when you drag and drop. To control this behaviour, right-click and drag your file, and the object menu will give you both 'copy' and 'convert' options. Of course, the format you use all depends on what you plan to do with the file once its on the Psion?
As an alternative, try out the excellent freeware XnView, a Windows/Linux graphics file conversion program that has EPOC's MBM as an output format. You can then just copy (not convert) these files to the Psion.
Regarding the microphone, its because the contacts to the motherboard are a friction fit, not soldered. Check my FAQ for ways of (temporarily) fixing it.

The xnView does not seem to be able to convert to colour MBMs. I use bmconv that came with the SDK, is it a command line tool and produced by far the best results. It only converts BMP format to MBM but handles a range of colour depths. If you would like to det hold of the program, e-mail me off line.
