I have a Palm TX and recently downloaded the new driver for the UWK from Palm. Something told me to leave well enough alone. I should have paid attention to my gut. After downloading the driver, the TX went haywire. It kept resetting and wouldn't stop. I finally had to do a hard reset, which I try to avoid at all costs. Has anyone had this problem? Mostly my TX has been great. Now I'm skittish about trying any Palm updated software. None of my 3rd party software has caused me problems.

I havent herd of such an issue.... very interesting.
There isnt a specific download for TX is there?
I'm guessing not, so maybe a conflict with another program, i say get a backup program that backs up to your SD card then try install it again.

You might want to take a look at the UWK troubleshooting page on the Palm, Inc. site:

I hope this helps solve your issue:

I have version 1.08 of the UWK driver on my T5. The keyboard is completely inoperable and when I launch the driver software on my T5 it results in an immediate reset. Thus I wasted a significant sum of money on a keyboard that doesn't work.
For Palm to simply blame third party software is a total cop-out and not likely to win them much customer support.
Sort this one out Palm. It's a disgrace.

Thanks for the comments, Nick and Camski. The comment by Heather just refers me to the driver troubleshooting page that does nothing to address this particular problem. I dare not re-download the driver and risk another hard reset. The hard reset now seems to be preventing me from synching to my Agendus Destop. It's unfortunate when products designed to make life easier, create more problems. My Palm TX had been working fine until now, but at the moment it is becoming a nightmare. I'm usually good at troubleshooting, but I'm stumped. I've been using a Palm for 6 years and this is the most exasperated I've been.

I have been using my TX and the UWK for 6 months now, I'm using 1.10 driver and it works great; now (06/04/06) you can find a new driver (1.13) in Palm support page. I just downloaded it and I'm trying it. I'll keep posted. :)

Thanks. After discussing this with several people, it seems like it may have not been the driver. It may have been some instant messenger software on my tx. Do you have any problems with your UWK? Mine sometimes doesn't seem to be detected by the tx. I want to use the UWK to take notes, but sometimes it doesn't activate when I set it up. I do the usual things - turn the driver software off/on, make sure the infrared sensor is unobstructed, etc. That's the reason I initially downloaded the new driver. I wanted to see if it would allow the UWK to work better.

I myself am stumped :p
Infrared is turned on isnt it? :p
For some reason mine turns it's self off but can be accessed via the prefs menu in Power.
I currently use a ThinkOutside Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard. It's excellent, drivers work well, but you have to be willing to fork out the extra money (i think if you use if for a few hours every day, it will last about a year).
Have you tried the new drivers?
If not try a card backup program (backup buddy, backupman etc.) then try the new driver.
Instant messenger software... i did have ummm i can't remember which one, but i did have some form of messenger software on mine and after say about 20 minutes using the keyboard and the messenger, it'd soft reset itself, so maybe there is an incompatibility or conflict between bluetooth/IrDA software and the messenger software.
Anyway, goodluck with whatever you decide.
