Clie for work

I have a few questions hopefully you guys can answer.

I am in charge of ordering a few handhelds for work.

I am currently looking at the Clie, and one other.

I need a handheld for some testing,

Does the Clie have a way to attach a dial modem? It needs to support PPP over both Cell and land lines.

Is there a software that will allow this?

Is there a VPN client that can be used?

The current crop of Clies which share the same serial port (SJ, T, NR, NX) don't have an OEM analog modem like the N-series did, though some people have had success using an IR modem for the Psion units.

If your wireless provider allows, you can also use an IR capable phone (many newer Nokias have internal modems as do the newer Sony-Ericssons).

I don't know about VPN

What were you planning to do over the modem? Browse the net or do a modem Hotsync?

At this point we are only interested in making hte connection getting email and possibly web browsing to a point.

We are just trying to simulate what a customer will do, and as we all know they will do some crazy stuff.
