WMP 7.1 only works on pocketpc 2000 such as ipaq 3600, your ipaq is running pocketpc 2002. WMP 8 can read most mp3 files.
If you have problem with certain mp3, try re encode it with different bits rate or codec.
The latest OS upgrade, EUU3, include a newer version(8.5) of WMP, that may also help.

You can also try pocketdivx and see if it will play your mp3;

Windows Media Player played some of my MP3's. But those encoded at higher bitrate force me to play it on my PocketDivx .8. PocketDivx plays all of my MP3.

Where did you get Winamp for Pocket PC?

I agree, these other MP3 players just don't cut it.

If you use a 3765 iPAQ then it runs Pocket PC 2002 and already comes with Windows Media Player 8.0 for Pocket PC
v7.1 will not allow you to install it, since you all ready have a newer version.

Whatever was originally on my computer didnt work either, that is why I uninstalled it and downloaded the 7.1 version, which is what someone else told me to do.
So, should I uninstall it, and redownload the 8.0?

Thank you for this post. Without it, I'll still be using my Divx Player to play all of my MP3's. Now, I can play it in WMP. Much better, the skins and the volume. Thanks.
