No, I'm sort of kidding! Obviously the Palm OS is not dead but I think Microsoft is trying hard to make it die a slow death. They might succeed but, for now, with me, they haven't. I must admit they had me going for awhile with the release of the PPC-6700. Nice phone/PDA but I think Microsoft left out compatibility with Sprint's picture mail server system. That's why I sold my 6700 and bought the Treo 700p. Maybe Sprint also had something to do with the 6700 not being compatible with Sprint's picture mail server system.

I sure hope you're right retro. You know that Microsoft has the money and resources to succeed in the wireless technology boom. They're investing millions in India other countries where more people are better educated in computer technology and engineering. The labor can be had for cheaper, or one fifth the cost, than the labor here. The brightest minds are coming from other countries for cheaper! Microsoft still powers 90 percent of all PC already. The writing's on the wall unless PalmSource comes up with some ground breaking innovations. I didn't see this with the current Palm OS version which is 5.4. Sometimes it does crash my Treo 700p. I don't see the the Treo 700p for GSM being any different. Still the Palm OS, after all this time does't allow multitasking! Yes, I'm pro Windows mobile 5.0 I think it's better in performance and handling memory. Whether it overtakes the Palm OS remains to be seen. I think Palmsource was recently sold to an Asian company too. Palm may no longer own the system.
