Ok guys I am a newbie when it comes to using a palm, my brother in law gave me his old plam V and I installed the palm desktop software. Now my problem is how do I delete his profile off the palm and make my own.. everytime I click hotsync it brings up his.. Also how do I delete the palm maybe format it. and just start from scratch if that is easier thanks guys..
hello,
As I recall, This is how I did that, I hope it will work for you too:
you have to reset your palm (I understood you know how), then reinstall the program on the computer, or if you could not, you can simply delete the folder of the previos user (the folder with his name) and you also have to rename (or delete) the folder "backup" of the previos user.
only after doing that you have to activate hotsinc - than you will be promped to select a user.
good luck

Just do a Hard Reset. Next time you HotSync, it will ask for a user name. Enter your name. That't it! New account created.
Hard Reset:
1) hold the power button.
2) poke the reset button.
3) when the Palm logo comes up, let go of the power button.
4) it will ask if you want to delete all data. Yes - press the up button.

It depends wether you want to keep any of the data on the Palm. If you don't, look at the back of the Palm, there's a small hole with the word reset next to it. Unravel a paper clip and push it into the hole (GENTLY!) and simultaneously hold down the 'power' button (the green one on the top / front) for about 5 seconds, you should then see a message asking if you wish to erase all data, select yes and the Palm will be reset to factory defaults.
If you then go into the Palm desktop software, go to tools, and select the users option you will see a list of the user profiles and you can select and delete whichever profiles you wish. You should then be able to create a new profile and 'start from scratch'
