I'm looking to get a PDA. Just been to the hp.com web site before I stumbled across this forum in my searching.
The top-of-the-line iPAQs have a number of features that I don't want - for example, GPS, fingerprint. But what I do want is memory for songs so that the device can double as an MP3 player.
Do people use their PDA's as MP3 players as well? What do people here use and recommend?

Any Pocketpc or Windows Mobile devices can be used as mp3 player. They all come with Windows Media Player and you can get 3rd party media player softwares. The songs can be stored on external storage card such as cf or sd card depending on the model. These cards can have high capacity(1, 2, 4 GB) large enough to store mp3 files.

I use two of my pda's as a back up mp3 player. If you use windows player on pda's you will have to convert all mp3 files to wma files. You can how ever get a free mp3 media player from Pocketmind. Just go to this for the free download:http://www.pocketmind.com/pocketmusic.htm

Thanks for the help. I just have wma files. I never thought of using the SD card plug-ins to hold extra music if the capacity wasn't large enough - thanks.
there are several other media players out there for the pocket pc that play many different music formats such as mp3, ogg, etc. i use linux on my home machines, and most of my music files are in the ogg format. i feel the compression/quality ratio is better with this format, so i will be switching to another media player soon.
