User of Pager 850 left company without letting us know device password. User guide no help. How can I reset device to get rid of password protection (all data already gone after 10 incorrect password guesses)?

Have you tried reinstalling the OS? Are you running Blackberry or Elink or just using PIN to PIN?

I can not get anything to happen with the 850 but get it to display the former users name and contact phone number, and the message "Device disabled by security violation. Please consult user guide." (entered the password incorrectly ten times to get this message). The pdf version of the user guide I have, has nothing on this.

Installing the desktop software to my computer does not help, the device can not be located correctly (the above message comes up on the Pager 850 during the desktop softwares search for device).

There is no key combo/reset button I can press to clear the memory 100% (like a Palm)?

Make sure the serial setting is correct and run the application loader. The application loader will force the computer to recognize the device and then it will reload the OS. That should do the trick....i've had to do it myself once or twice!
