i have ipaq rz1710 (basic) + 1G sd. what do i need to watch movie/video, listen to mp3 and read e-book? need help. not sure what i should do. i'm very-very new to pda & my IT-knowledge is really really basic. :confused:

:) You should already have the software to listen to mp3 music with windows media player. As far as e-books go, it all has to do with format they are texted in. If pdf. then you will need adobe reader, txt. will use microsoft reader. Good news is you can get both for free for pda's from thier websites. For movies there are several programs both free and paid you can get to view them on your pda.

thxs 4 info. how do i install mp3 files into my pda? sorry i'm very2 new to this. as for movie, what program wld u recommend and can i/how do i install movie vcd into pda (i only have cd-rom not dvd)? appreciate all helps. :confused:

The easiest and fastest way is to get a usb sd card reader that attach to desktop computer and simply copy music or video files to My Documents folder (create one if you don't already) as you nomally copy any files. You can activesync the iPAQ and click Explore on desktop activesync and it will let you copy files as well, but this will be much slower.
For movie, you should use TCPMP as the player

You may need to convert the movies you have so they have proper size and bit rates for the iPAQ. PocketDivXEncoder mentioned on TCPMP site is one of the free tool. Other free tools are Fairuse, SUPER and VeMode. You should be able to google for these.

Thanks. anyone know whether is it possible to encode VCD to Divx?

Vcd is actually mpeg-1 format. Same programs mentioned above can convert them.
