Skin Management (?)

I am 2 weeks into my IPAQ 3835 - so I still consider myself a "newbie." I found a dashboard skin that I liked and loaded it into folder Storage Card - My Documents - Dashboard - Skins. If I select Dashboard from the Programs menu I can select the new skin from the Tools - Options - Skins pull down and it appears when I tap OK. But if I power down and up again, the old Compaq skin reappears. The only way to get the new skin to show is to go through the Tools - Options route again. Is there any way to get the downloaded skin to load from power-up?

I'm using Dashboard as well - haven't seen the problem you're describing. Do you have the 'Rotate Skins Automatically' checkbox checked in Options on the Skins tab?

Another thought is executing a soft reset after selecting the new skin.

If the skin package is small, try moving it to the Dashboard SKINS directory in main memory. I keep most skins, especially those with large footprints, on my SD. After certain applications exit (NYITOD virtural display for example) I get a message stating the current skin could not be found and the default skin is loaded. When the skin is in main memory this does not occur.

You do not say what type of storage medium you are using; I would bet that this problem is more prevalent with SD's and Microdrives than with SD's.
