All of a sudden my m500 won't turn on. It had been working fine. I thought maybe the battery was dead, so I put it on the cradle all night. The light did come on so I thought it was charging. Still won't turn on. I tried a soft and hard reset, Nothing comes on the screen at all so I don't think anything worked. The on button doesn't seem to have any movement to it. I also tried turning it on with one of the buttons at the bottom, nothing. This is a replacement which was sent to me by Palm several months ago for a unit which died of "sudden death" It was just out of warranty at the time and I think they only gave me a short warranty on the replacement. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I thought the warranty on the replacement ends 1 year after the original purchase date of the first unit or 90 days after receipt of the replacement unit, whichever is later. You should check on that.
Yes, I believe you are correct. My original unit died about a month after the warranty expired. They did replace it for free which I thoght was great but the refurbished unit they sent died and it's past the 90 day warranty period. They wouldn't let me buy an extended warranty.

Man, wouldn't you know it?!!
I think I may have a fix. I noticed there didn't seem to be any give to the on button and the battery was draining. I ordered a T5 torx screw adapter and opened the unit. (no risk since it's dead and out of warranty anyway) I reseated the motherboard and the button feels like it works now. Now I'll have to wait for it to recharge and see if it worked. If this works it would make sense, It probably wouldn't do a hard reset because It wasn't recognizing any input from the on button.

Hi, I have had the same problem with my M500. I sent in in for a replacement 10 days after I bought it. Today I am having the same problem again.
I called Palm and the woman I spoke with seems to think it is the cradle.
Good news they will send me a new one, bad news it will take 5-10 working days.
I love my Palm but can not depend on it. I went out today and bought a Sony. Keeping my fingers crossed this will have a better track record.
I would suggest you call (847) 262-7256 but note that if it is out of warrenty they say they will charge you a suppot fee.
I am not a happy camper right now.
Good luck to you.

I bought an SJ30. So far I like it but an wondering how long it will work. I still miss the Palm 500.
The sj30 seems to be a nice machine though. I love it being color.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Once I get it fixed I am going to sell it. Are you interested? I have the car adapter, regular dc power, case, original software, original box.
