Is there any way to correctly implement Palm's newest Desktop version with the IQue3600? I spent over an hour on the phone with Garmin's techsupp yesterday (VERY patient and polite, btw!!!) and believe we determined that it can NOT be done.
I was wondering, though, if any techies here figured out a way.
I have a .dba file that I really need to install, but it was written for implementation on the newest Palm Desktop software. I get an error message when I try to import it into Garmin's version 4.1. But when I install Palm's 4.1.4 it works fine --- I just can't hotsync (OK, that's a problem!) anything.
Thanks,
Jeff

I am using 4.1.0. Just curious, what is so special about 4.1.4?

Nothing is "special" about it (though a few new features have been added). It's just that, as with all software, if someone programs to the latest version, it won't work with earlier versions. I have a .dba file that I need to get imported, but it won't work on my 4.1 since it was written for 4.1.4.

Instead of exporting the datebook from ver 4.1.4 and then trying to import it into ver 4.1 have you tried to overwrite the datebook.dat file from ver 4.1 with the datebook.dat file from ver 4.1.4 directly? I do something similar to this when I'm trying to get two different PDA's to contain the same info. But in my case I'm using the same version Palm desktop software.

Apparently, the 4.1.4 code is different than the 4.1 code. Therefore, anything that is exported from 4.1.4 is not readable in 4.1. And .dba file that was constructed for (or exported from) 4.1.4 is read as a corrupt file by 4.1. It just doesn't know what to do with it.

I'm not sure you understood what I said. I'm saying don't export and import. Just copy the datebook.dat file created through ver 4.1.4 over top of the datebook.dat file created through ver 4.1. Of course make a backup copy of the ver 4.1 file first just in case it doesn't workout.
