I used to use BackupBuddyVFS (V. 1.0) to backup stuff from my Palm m505 to a SD card. I tried it with my Tungsten T, and saw that it went slow as molasses (which I aborted after well over an hour of waiting). I later saw that the Blue Nomad (http://www.bluenomad.com/bbvfs/prod_bbvfs_details.html) website says "OS 5 Devices including Palm Tungsten are not supported at this time".
So, does anyone have any backup programs to recommend that they are comfortable with that they *know* will run on the TT? A backup program must be certified to run on OS 5, because I'd hate to run into a nasty snag during an emergency restore....
One candidate I'm considering is CardBackup by jkWare (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=71696120021202054556&prodID=14328). According to PalmGear the latest version 1.3 will work on OS5. Does anyone have any experience with this one?
Any other backup program suggestions?

Clare,
Try using the latest BackupBuddyVFS version (1.2). Most functions work fine on the TT. Backup didn't take hours on my device.

According to Blue Nomad's BackupBuddyVFS download page (http://www.bluenomad.com/bbvfs/prod_bbvfs_download.html), they now have version 2.02 available, but they still have the same LOUD BOLD DISCLAIMER that OS5 and specifically the Tungsten is not supported. I am not comfortable using BackupBuddyVFS as long as this disclaimer is on their page. I rely on this as an emergency backup -- so I want to be *extra* sure that it works under *all* situations.
Palm Support lists BackupBuddy's Tungsten compatibility as "yes*" (http://www.palm.com/support/tungstent/compatibility.html#B), and further explains that: "Compatibility of products marked with an asterisk (*) are pending self certification by their respective companies." So Palm Support didn't run into any overt difficulties, but Blue Nomad isn't willing to warrant its use for the Tungsten. So I'm not willing to trust it with my essential data and programs yet.
More suggestions?

Sorry for the confusion. I'm running version 2.02 and really have no problem with backup and restore of the palm. Of course you're free to choose to wait, but why not try it ? (after full backup to desktop of course).

I went thru the same looking for a backup program right after I got my Tungsten T, and was very wary about both Backup Buddy VFS as well as Botzam Backup since neither were OS5 "certified".
Then I found Advanced Backup (v 2.03 by Alex Tsai) on PalmGear.
He says it's completely compatible.
And an added bonus .. .. .. although the shareware price on PalmGear is listed as $9.95 (even that's pretty reasonable), when you actually click on the buy-it button the price changes to $4.95 and that's all you're actually charged.
Seems to have all the functionality of the others at a bargain price.

I used the newest version of Card Backup on mine. It backed up in about 45 seconds. I even did a hard reset afterward and restored the unit. Restoring only took about 45 seconds as well.
