Dell has no immediate plans to offer a Serial Sync Cable/Cradle. This means that those of us who work with Windows NT workstations will be out of luck when it comes to SYNCing. This is a HUGE problem since the 6000 workstation in my office complex are NT workstation. So much for using it for Business.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. That computer should be upgraded (according to Microsoft's plan) next year anyway. I read that support for pre-Win2K/WinME OSes will be no longer sometime next year.

Great Idea, but whe you work for a slow moving company it could be years before a move is made to get the desktops away from the NT platform. So I am stuck with a hunt for alternative means to connect the Axim to an NT workstation. Or I will have to decide to go with another manufacturer. I am curious to know if other products are compatable (i.e. Compaq produces a connection cable with both serial and USB connections in on cable).

I received this note from a sales rep at Belkin on Friday. It looks as though there will be several accessory additions in mid-January.

"Thank you for your inquiry. We are currently developing a full line of products that will work with the new Dell Axim X5. However, the line is not yet available. I assure you we are doing everything we can to get these products out to consumers as quickly as possible. If we can confirm that the Axim will communicate via a serial data transmission we will most definitely make that product. I would encourage you to check back with us in the middle part of January. Thank you again for your inquiry. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to respond."
