Help have a ipaq 3835 just bought a sandisk sd 256mb card.

When I try to transfer from my desktop to the sd card using windows explorer (through activsync) it starts, but about a third of the way through the transfer restarts itself. It goes through this cycle a couple times. I was left with part of the file transfered. (52mb of a 184mb file)

I checked my power on off settings, set it for power to stay on with external power.
I tried 5 times with 2 different files one 232mb (.avi file) one 184mb (.mpg file). The actual space shown on the ipaq for the sd card is 238.5 which also is dissapointing what windows does, But there is enough space.

Please any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Activesync is not very efficient for copying large file. I would recommend getting a SD card reader that plug in to the usb port on your desktop, it's not expensive and very easy to use, and the speed will be much faster.

I use a card reader also and it works great. Much faster and more complete file transfers.

Also, as you buy more devices that use memory cards (camera, etc.) the card reader will save you lots of battery power since the card reader is powered by the USB port on your PC. When you use the device itself, it actually uses the device battery even though it is connected to the ISB port.

Many cameras (especially those without rechargeable batteries) recommend getting a card reader. They are usually less than $10 and a great buy.
