I am having a problem when synchronizing appointmnents between by M5 and Outlook installed on my laptop. I am running ActivSync 4.2

Whenever I initiate a synchronize, the time on the M5 is always set back one hour as soon as the first sync is completed. Then all appointments are off by one hour between the two devices. When I change anything on either device and resync the update is always one hour off again between the two devices. I have tried correcting the time on the M5 and this works fine but still any time I sync the appointments remain one hour off.

I have checked the time setting on both the laptop and the M5 - set to the same time, same time zone.

Any ideas as to where I might need to look to fix this ?

I just realized that I am running Windows Mobile 2003 SE rather than Windows Mobile 5 which apparently ActivSync 4.2 is designed for. I wonder if this could be the cause of the problem.

Everything else seems to be working fine and the Windows Activsync download page does say that Version 4.2 is compatible with Windows Mobile 2003.

Could it be a daylight savings time setting issue on one of the devices?

I did try and change this setting to off on the PC and then sync again but I had the same problem.

There are also time zone and daylight saving time settings inside desktop Outlook you may have to check.

I checked them and that setting is actually linked to the Windows time setting. When you change one the other is updated automatically.

Today I unchecked daylight saving time from my laptop and sync works fine. The time on the M5 does not change by an hour when I start the Sync and any changes I then make in my calendar are properly updated either way. Of course when I unchecked daylight saving time all my appointments in Outlook were adjusted by an hour !!

If I reset the PC to daylight saving time the M5 time is reset one hour back at the next Sync.

Anyway, I eventually fixed the problem by setting the time on the M5 an hour later than it really is and the Sychronizing. Now it seems to be Ok. i'm not really sure why this has worked ( seems like a weird fix ) but it does.

Thanks for the help
