I saw someone had a opinion on the Opera Browser and gave it very high praise. I have it loaded on my S5 MX and I can't get the thing to work worth a dam. It loads up my home page (my yahoo)alright and then it might take as much as 2 min. to load the next page. It's so slow I just can't use it. Does anybody have any idea where I'm going wrong. I'm sure there must be some settling I can change but I can't work it out myself. It would be great if someone out could help me. Thanks.
First of all, what are you comparing it to in terms of speed?
Opera is very memory-hungry. How much free C drive do you have? Also, how are you connecting to the internet - the speed of this line will obviously also have an effect. Is it slow to display any site, or just some specific ones?

Dear Diem
Thanks for your interest in my little problem. I'm contecting to the internet over a regular land line using the psion infrared travel modem (which works prefect when collecting my email). I've just shut down all other programs on my C drive before I connect and I have 8.1M to work with. It seems to be working just fine now. You where very right, it is very memory hungry. Do you know how many M I need on my C drive available to make opera operate properly? Thanks again for your help.

I try to make sure I have at least 7Mb free on C before launching Opera - any more is of course a bonus. Also it does depend on the type of sites you intend to access.
It's quite a good idea to have Opera itself installed to a CF disk in drive D and run it from there to save space on internal. I suspect you might already be doing that.

Dear Julie
Thanks for the info. I'm new to this message board stuff and I have to say this is great. I've had a Psion for about 4 years now and if any thing went wrong I was on my own. Not any more.
Back to the Opera Browser...Does it operate faster if there's more the 7M to available or is 7M just what it needs? Thanks again for your interest.
Duncan :)
