I have been looking for a wiring diagram for building an IR sender/reciever for use with my Ericsson mc218.

I have found diagrams of IR-receivers to use with a remove control, but that's not exactly what i'm looking for.

Are there someone here that have build one and can give me some advice?

I know that i can get one at the closest store, but i think it's more fun to build my own.. and it's also alot cheaper to do it yourself.

Do you mean an IR transceiver to connect your Ericsson to a PC? If so, then its not the hardware that will be the problem, but the software driver. If you mean to connect via IR to some other device, my apologies and could you provide a little more info about your intentions?

Yes i want to connect my Ericsson to my PC.

I thought that it was enough to install the program PsiWin.

Sorry persal, its not that simple. Psiwin needs to see a COM port in order to talk to your MC218. To make IR appear as a COM port, it needs to use the IrCOMM standard, which is the default in 95/98/Me, but not in 2K/XP, which use the IrOrBex standard.

Ok, seems it's a bit harder to get it to work than i thought.
I'm a software developer although i have never written a driver before. It's probably not worth it.

What about at cable then.. do i have to write a driver if I build a cable with RS232<-->COM contacs?
