I have a m130 with a 64MB SD card which I just bought. I am loading up photos to the expansion card using PhotoSuite (free with a M130) and it just seems painfully slow...

Is this common? Each photo is anywhere from 300-400KB, so they aren't small, but the 3o pics I am loading and trying to file into albums is taking forever...

Cheers!

I have the same problem using photosuite on my m125 with a 64m card. If you think that is frustratingly slow dont even try to load the adobe reader for palm it is a nightmare! you may want to look into using fireviewer it seems to work much faster plus you can run video.

300-400K is pretty big. It takes a lot of computing power to decode JPGs. SplashPhoto may be faster, but it still takes 15 seconds to open a 350K JPG on my Prism.

You can make each picture have fewer pixels. No use viewing a 1280x960 JPG when your m130 only has a 160x160 screen. But converting 30 JPGs takes a lot of time.

If you have an extra $500 lying around, I heard the TungstenT is awfully fast with JPGs.

Thanks, and you are right, they are fairly big files for such a small "computer"! I guess I was so impressed by the processing speed increase over my old m100 that I didn't realize I was asking a lot out of my m130. It does take about 10-15 seconds for the file list to come up, but I can scroll through the pics at a fairly fast pace.

I am a cheap bastard when it comes to PDAs, don't know why, I love the things; but maybe after I retire from the USAF and start making some serious money, I will start buying the more powerful (and expensive) versions.

Cheers! M2

Major,

I use SplashPhoto and have about 200 photos and it's FAST. The nice thing is that the program uploads the file as 50K or so. No zooming in or out, but you can adjust that when you upload.

I am generally reluctant to recommened an application to speed up the processing but I have been using FastCPU for a couple of years now and the latest version is very capable and very stable. I do not apply it to alll of my apps only the ones that make me wait too long.
