Hello my fellow Psionics!
I know I'm late. Had a Psion 5mx years ago, but upgraded [sorry, I meant downgraded] to a PocketPC. [Shame, shame...:p ]
But NOW I have a netbook! Got it real cheap...[US$232]!
Just need to know if there is a possibility, albeit a remote one, that I can get IMAP support. Thanks guys!
Love this forum and I agree with everyone!

Which OS revisions do you have - in my release 450 OS IMAP support is built-in to the Email program..?

Mine is 1.05 [281]. I think it also has the IMAP built in. It is the IMAP4. Is that the same?
Anyway, I had all the settings keyed in and tried downloading my files. Only get headers then the message "server closed" or "error..." of some kind. The mails do not come with the contents, just the headers, then break off.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

No, this is the way Email works. So as to reduce the amount of data transferred, when you open a connection to a mailbox, it downloads only the headers of your mails. You can then highlight the ones you are interested in, and either copy them to your Inbox (also leaves them on the server) or move them to your inbox (deletes the original from the server).
If you really are getting an error message, please post the exact words of the message - we can't help you otherwise eh?!

When using IMAP to receive mail from MS Exchange server, any HTML mail item is copied to the inbox as a blank message with the html as an attachment. Is there a setting within EPOC Mail to allow IMAP HTML messages to appear as stripped plain text with an HTML attachment, as with POP messages, or is this an Exchange Server configuration issue?

just to say to everybody who still don't know: IMAP4 support on psion is far from the meaning of the IMAP4.

I have played with IMAP4 in my 5mx and I suspect the IMAP plug-in for the Email application is little more than a tool to allow mail to be retrieved from an IMAP server. It clearly doesn't have the functionality of a fully featured PC email client. The netBook, of course, still runs the same basic programs as the rest of the ER5 range so you have an email client written for a PDA on a device intended for the business & commercial market.

I use IMAP4 on my series7 (not supported by Psion) for a about a year now. I´m happy with it. It´s not without bugs and lacks some functionality. True.
However it allows me to read my work email while on business trips and at home very easily. Which was one of the main reasons for me to get this machine.

Right so Email is actually crashing out completely whilst downloading headers from your IMAP4 inbox yes?
First thing I would do would be to enable the log files, so as to see exactly what its doing when it crashes. Create the following two folders, then open Email and try to connect to your inbox.
C:\Logs\Email\
C:\Logs\Etel\
After it crashes, check the content of the file in each folder. The Etel one is your modem log, and the Email one is obviously enough Email's log.
