I just migrated from the Hp-IPAQ 6315 to the MDA (T-Mobile). I would never have switched had the HP not died again (3rd one).

Anyhow, I was using Beta Player to watch videos on my HP but it does not seem to work on the MDA. I get sound only and an error message. ANyone have any suggestion on how to watch videos on the MDA? Either by using a different app, or converting to another format......

I guess I'm that old dog that doesn't like new tricks, but I'll flex for this one.
Any app that will give me some "trick" uses of my MDA are welcomed.

UPDATE:

I searched around and did a lot of reading on this subject. The Beta Player that I used to use on my iPaq DOES NOT support the MDA (or vice-versa). I did find an app that is similar and far outperforms Windows Media Player when it comes to Divx/AVI etc.

I downloaded TCPMP (The Core Player Media Player) http://www.coreplayer.com/ and all is well.

How do you like your MDA? I had an HP Ipaq through tmobile and it was garbage. My MDA is a Godsend as I have yet to have to soft/hard reset it since I got it a few weeks ago. I've installed probably 20 different programs on it as well. Everything from Nintendo Emulators to Remote Desktop without a single glitch or lockup.

Yay!

I also had the ipaq, and a second one. I thought it was the greatest phone ever until I got an MDA. I did a lot with the ipaq but it started resetting intermittently. I tried to nurse it along but I finallly had to put it to rest. I have to agree with you, the MDA is a BIG improvement. What apps are you running? Games? Overclocked? Video Player? I am always looking to learn new stuff. Have you done your upgrade yet?

I haven't overclocked it yet, supposedly it becomes a completely different machine even slightly overclocked. So thats my next project.
What do you mean by update it? I just got it a few weeks ago and it already had the latest firmware installed. Are u implying that there is a new/modified one that may be better?
I'm a very bad boy actually. Some of the software I use I get online illegally. If I like it, then I buy it. Thats my justification. And I'll probably be flamed but I don't like the "trial products that are severely limited" I've downloaded about 9 pirated versions of software, 7 of which I bought after the fact and two I deleted because I wasn't impressed.

As far as games go, Tomb Raider seems to be the most graphic pleasing, nice running game that shocked me with it's quality. It's about on par with the PS1's version. As far as applications go, SPB apps, (today and weather), Wififofum, snes emulator, and .lit reader for my robert jordan ebooks are my most used. There are many many more like pocketnes but you get the idea.

I'm a technician for Verizonwireless ironicly and during down time you can find me listening to my 1000 MP3's or watching SAW 3, Superman Returns or any other movie that catches my attention.

By the way, I highly recommend Wififofum. It has a radar, that shows locations of available or near wifi spots and is very sensitive. It even gives you location directions as to which way.

Am I the only one who bought a WiFi PDA so I could browse the net on the pot? :p

T-Mobile has posted an upgrade that was not installed on my phone when I got it three-four weeks ago. It adds some improvements such as stereo bluetooth compatability and some others. Check on their web site and get it. it's free. It also changes your radio button to include six items....you should check into it. However, keep in mind, you will get a hard reset with it and willl have to redo all your speed dials, voicetags, etc. I have found no way to back up with activesync 4.1 so you'll have to be careful how you save your data. I lost a few items but had them saved so putting them back in was only a few minutes of time.

What are you watching video with? How are you creating your files? I would like to make my files as small as possible even though I store them on a MiniSD as Divx and/or AVI. Like I said, I'm willing to learn.
