With no warning, my E2 will not turn on. I had this problem before when I installed Warpspeed (a freeware download that eliminates the annoying whine the E2 can emit) and I followed directions on that forum and let the battery fully drain over a period of a week, plugged it into the charger, and it came back on. This was about a year ago and I have had no problems. The only change recently is that I had to buy a car charger from the Palm store when I was out of town. I used it off and on for a couple of days and did not experience any problems. When it wouldn't turn back on, I plugged it back into the charger thinking the battary somehow was dead and still got no response. Do I have to go thru another week without my Palm while I wait for the battery to drain? Is there another answer or a quicker way to drain it?

Thanks,

Tom

Have you tried the in-cradle reset ?

[plug the charger in, hit the reset on the back of the palm, leave to charge for 3 hours]

As soon as I plugged the power cord in, it came on. I then reset my date and time. Thinking it might be fixed I unplugged it and it showed full battery. I turned it off and it wouldn't come back on. I plugged it in again and had to reset it for it to come on. I will leave it plugged in for 3 hours and hope that works.

Thanks,

Tom

My E2 has had several episodes of this - the only way I've found to get it back alive is to leave it alone for a week or so, plug it in to the charger, then do an in-cradle reset when it comes back on.

I bought a PalmIIIxe off of e-bay as a backup. A couple of AAA batteries, and I'm good to go for another month or so.

I may have to try the back-up route. There is something to be said about easily replaceable batteries. The good news is that the cradle reset worked and I am back up and running. Wondering if somehow the car charger messed it up.
