Any ideas why my 5550 should sudenly start doing a hard reset every time I change the battery ?

i think the internal backup battery is dead. I believe it's just a cr2032 coin battery, but you will have to open the unit to replace it.

Could be worth a try I guess, but the power settings window reports it as being 100% ??

Not really had chance to look at the problem for a while.

But, a hard reset happens when

I change the battery
or
The battery goes flat

However, the back up battery is always reporting some level of charge remaining, so that seems OK ?

For instance, today I used it for the first time in several days. The main battery was flat, so I had to put it in the cradle to get it going - it did a hard reset. Once up and running, I looked at the back up level and it was reporting 50%.

I let it all charge up. Both at 100% and then tried changing the battery.
Hard reset again.

Any other ideas ? Please :)

I still think that your backup battery is dead. Perhaps it does not report the backup battery level correctly because the backup battery is either completely dead or defective.

OK - I've ordered a new back up battery now.
Amazing how you buy other stuff at the same time !!!
Cheers - I'll report back when new one fitted.

Thanks.
