Hi, I have an iPaq 1945. I got it second hand, and don't have a CD or manual. It's battery was also well dead, and would not come on. So I got a new one.

When it powers up, it comes up with the 'HP invent' screen with 1.07 number on top, and doesn't go any further. I'd left it on overnight to charge the battery, and no movement.

When I plug it into the PC, it sees USB device, doesn't prompt for install. ActiveSync won't see it, I have it installed for another PDA.

Did it 'lose' the OS? What do I do? Is there anything I can download/buy to reload the ROM?

Thank you for any help

Try hard reset it.
While holding down the power button press the recessed reset button with your stylus for a few seconds.

Yea, I've tried hard and soft resets aplenty, goes back to the same thing.

Do you know that this unit ever work properly before the battery ran out? My guess is that unfortunately your iPAQ is broken and need repair.

That same thing happened to me and I never got it going. The ROM somehow got erased and no matter what I tried, it was a no go. Looks like it's time for another ipaq.

Sorry.

Hi You can repair the device by sending it to the http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/
I have repair the rom image for my ipaq RX3715 & HX2750. You have to post the device to them and they will send them by insured post.

Visit their website for more details, I feel they are lot cheaper than HP.

Good Luck
