Hi there ,
I just got a T-mobile MDA. I wanted to put my entire my address book on it from my current PDA but now realize it becomes a nightmare scrolling through all those numbers to call someone quickly. In OUTLOOK I am able to store some numbers in other folders so I don't see them under "contacts" but don't know how to get the MDA to use folders for these same contacts as well (those I moved into contact folders in OUTLOOK have disappeared from my MDA contact list). Help! Thanks,
Phlaire

In Contacts, tap Menu --> Filter --> and you should see a list of categories to choose from.

Thanks for your suggestion. The problem I am having is that you can filter the ones you want to see by company or category but they are all still there in the contacts list. I want to have a smaller "contacts" list for everyday retrieval and another one that I can access for less frequently used contacts. I don't know if that is possible.

Hi there... I've had a similar situation with the seperation of my work and personal contacts in Outlook; I basically seperated them out into two folders... I've just bought an M3100 (on Orange) and it seem to have no awareness of other folders containing contacts... And Active Sync has no options (I've seen thus far) to point it to a contacts folder other than the default... I've ended up merging my personal and work contacts into the single (default 'Contacts') folder at the Outlook level just so I can sync them with my device... Sub optimial but it doesn't look like there's another way to do it...

While WM Contacts does not support subfolders, it does support assigning categories to contact records. You can assign more than one category per record, so the same entry can appear on several category lists. You can then use the categories drop-down list on the main contacts screen to filter the displayed records to those in a particular category.

I'm new in WM (just got an HTC P3300). I came from Palm OS. Categories is a way of finding our way through Contacts but searching for specific text (ex. oqupation) included in a contact is most powerful. Can we do it with Windows Mobile 5.0 OS??

As a long-time Palm user, I recently purchased the new Pocket PC version of Agendus Pro to install on my new Dopod m700. This program has excellent contact management features. You can group contacts by almost any field including last name, company, etc. For more info, visit iambic's web site.

Another software option to have your PPC organization follow your desktop Outlook would be Pocket Mirror. This provides sync of multiple folders and subfolders between Outlook and the WM parallel applets.
