My IPAQ connects to my phone via bluetooth. Does anyone have any suggestions for setting up a dial up connection? Any recommended dial up service providers or free service providers? Thanks!

Does anyone have any suggestions for setting up a dial up connection? Any recommended dial up service providers or free service providers? Thanks! AnswerDude 02-05-2007, 09:22 AM Any regular dialup isp that does not require proprietary dialer should work fine. Many high speed internet provider come with free dial up account (i know that at&t dsl does), check with yours. Keep in mind that if you want to use cell voice service to connect to internet instead of cellular data service, the speed will be extremely slow and may not be that practical. And some cellular provider may not allow this. JonathanRay 02-05-2007, 09:43 AM Do you know of any free service providers like access4free.com (when it still existed :( ). AnswerDude 02-05-2007, 09:47 AM Sorry, but no. JonathanRay 02-06-2007, 04:42 PM Do you recommend or know of any online services that would provide me with the ability to connect via my phone? AnswerDude 02-06-2007, 05:05 PM Dialup service such as Earthlink or At&t should work, but as i said before i do not recommend any of it because the speed is too slow for any practical uses. If you are willing to pay, you are better off subscribe to data service from your cellular provider. yankeejeep 02-06-2007, 05:42 PM Even a free dial-up service accessed through your cell phone uses airtime according to your service agreement. For example, I could dial in to an Earthlink number using my Verizon cell phone, but the connection used airtime just like a voice call. I had a faster dial-up connection using the Verizon NationalAccess digital service, so I used fewer minutes. Accessing a dial-up service typically only makes sense when you are using a modem card and land line. PDA Street
