If you mean to blank the screen while you play music.
In windows media player, go to
tools --> settings -- buttons
Assign a button to screen toggle. This will accomplish what you want.
When you want to blank the screen in media player, just press the button.

If you mean to blank the screen in general, you can set the time for the backlight to go off when not in use that would save some battery, and you can always use the on/off button, that will just suspend the unit till you press it again, it does not shut it down totally the way it does on your desktop.

As noted previously, it's the backlight that draws all the current.

The LCD display draws virtually no current from the battery, so isn't critical for power savings.

However, he is the link you are looking for:

Windows folder is fine, or if you like Windows--Start Menu--Programs and you can access it from the Programs menu as well.
