Hotsync Goes Forever

As I type this, my hotsysnc progress window is still open saying "installing handheld applications". This has been going on for over an hour. Handheld stops at synchonizing Calendar. All contacts, calendar info get synched, but I have to disconnect handheld from cable and do a soft reset to get things started again. In the meantime, the hotsync progress window is like the energizer bunny--it keeps on going and won't close down. Even when I tap cancel, it just makes a tone and stays on. Only when I turn off my computer, does it go away and it never installed any new apps.
Any ideas?

There are many things things that can be causing your issue.
