Hi
I have recently purchased a second hand XDA11 which I was told was unlocked.
The main purpose of purchasing this is that I like to have a little gamble, and I thought i'd be able to do this easily at work when I am away from my home pc.
Because I do not want to make calls or send texts on this device I thought I'd run it on O2 pay as you go. That way I would not be tied up on any contracts. Initially all seemed to be going well. I could access the internet, get into a bookmakes site, log in, look at my account details/balance etc. I could get the runners up etc but when it came to place a bet the "bet now" box was blanked out and it was not possible to place a bet. This was true of all bookmakers sites, betfair and even o2's own comparrison site bet2go. I also couldn't get e.mails to work but that is less of an issue for me.
o2 have been no help, they even told me that I shouldn't be able to access the internet at all on pay as you go and tried to sell me a contract.
I then thought I'd try someone else and bought a T Mobile sim card. however, even though I was told the phone was unlocked a message comes up asking for a code. T mobile want £15 for this code, and can give me no assurances that the XDA2 will work on their network and hace not offered any settings that will surely be needed to access the internet via another network.
I am so frustrated by the whole thing that I am seriously considering putting the XDA2 on sale with e.bay.
Does anyone know how I can achieve what I want to do with this device?
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ian

Perhaps it's not the connection issue but the Pocket Internet Explorer issue. The built-in browser does not have all the features and functions of the desktop version and may not be fully compatible with this particular site. You may want to look at 3rd party web browser such as
Netfront
http://www.access-company.com/products/netfrontmobile/browser/33_wm.html
or
Opera
http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/winmobileppc/

Hi
I am having trouble installing these on my XDA11.

If you take Netfront, I download the file to my pc and then send it via bluetooth to my XDA11.

When I try to open it on the XDA11 I get the message "NF33PPC3ARENR106D is not a valid pocket pc application"

I get a similar result from Opera.

Any suggestions?

I believe the file is desktop installer, you will need to install Activesync on the desktop and run the file you downloaded on the desktop while you connect the pda to it. Activesync will install the program to the device.

Unfortunately I cannot even get Activesync to work. I've installed it on my pc but nothing happens. If you go to start - all programs - active sync nothing happens at all. Connecting the cradle up with the XDA11 on makes no difference but it must be connected correctly as it is charging up from my pc.
Am getting very frustrated with the thing.

What version of Activesync are you using? Are you running any firewall or security software on the desktop? Perhaps try another usb port, directly to the computer not through usb hub.

I have tried version 4.2 and 4.5. I've tried every USB port on the pc, and I've tried it with all my security/firewall etc turned off.
It just doesn't do anything. There is a greyed out symbol on the bottom right of the machine, if you hover over that it says "not connected" but clicking on this has no effect, it will not open any dialogue box. It's most frustrating.
