Is it worth $130 for the sony clie sl-10. I have tried it at a store but only it only was a pda tour. Does it have good features, bundled software, and accessories? And if not, what pda for that price or below. Thanx,

It's a good buy. Lots of sites have info on it, just check on www.amazon.com . If you don't want to hassle with AAAs, opt up a bit for the SONY SJ20, which has the same outer case with a slightly better screen and a re-chargable built-in battery. Lots of review about the SJ20 are available, priced around $175 US.

I did the research and I went with the SL-10. I paid 125 at amazon minus a $25 mail in rebate and free shipping. It is lighter and smaller than the SJ20 (Since it uses AAA batteries and it's only 8mb of memory). The screen is perfect and I downloaded a font program that makes the letters a little thicker since the 320x320 resolution make the font thin.
My main use for for tracking phones, calendar, etc... I downloaded some basic games like Tetris, solitary, etc...
I also purchased a 64mb memory stick and I saved a lot of extra stuff on the stick. It's more than enough for my needs and I am really happy with the Clie. It also included documents to go for free which lets you read and edit word and excel files.
I would recommend it to anyone for under 100 bucks.

well, that shows more restraint than me... enjoy it!
I am happy to hear that some are happy with the sl 10. It is the one I just ordered. I do mainly ebooks, Avantgo downloads and word to go. I tried a few games with the pda it is replacing (that I outgrew) and found I prefer my games on the pc.

Well, not totally true, The SL10 may be lighter, but they are the same size as each other and the SJ30. The SL10 is a good buy. I hope you enjoy it!

I have been using the SL10 for a few weeks now, and am really liking it. It has a good software bundle for your PC, and loading/unloading programs is quite good. The Memory sticks are a good idea, too. The only problem is not being rechargeable, but the SL20 or 30 will give you that option, although at a bigger cost. I've gone from the M105 to the M125 to the SL10, and like it.
Mine came and I love it. I got a nice memory stick and put everything I wished my palm Vllx could hold onto it with no problem.

call me spoiled, but i can't handle the darkness of the SL10 screen. i had an SJ30 which i was completely thrilled about, until the screen (glass, not LCD) cracked. as for now, i'm waiting for repair kits to be developed for this relatively new line of clies. in the meantime, because i depend on my clie to stay organized and keep running lists and contacts, i broke down and got an SL10 as a temp. replacement. my suggestion is to spend the extra $50 (or $150 for the SJ30) for a better screen. it is well worth it. the SJ20 is much easier to read in any setting. my SL10 is cutting it so far, but i would gladly trade it to someone for the repair of my SJ30. lots of luck.
cheers

Not sure why reviewers and others constantly rag on the "poor screen" of the SL10? I have one myself and it DOES have a backlight. Outside of that, I am always in dimly lit areas and I can see the screen fine without the backlight on.. I can also sit in the dark and turn the backlight on and see more than perfect. Where are people using these things that they think it is poor? Having owned a Casio Cassiopea E100 (The first full color PDA released), I can say this screen on the SL10 is a lot more readable, even if it is monoschrome. Even with the backlight on. The ghosting is nothing really bad that i've seen, not enough to bug me, as I do mostly PDA stuff.. dates, passwords, phone numbers, etc .. I've used the SL-30 and it is quite fantastic, and yes the screen is far better, but for me it wasn't worth payin an extra $200 for..
For $120, I couldn't find any other PDA that does high resolution 320x320 AND lets me use memory stick cards to expand it.. I've got a 64MB card and this is too much room for me. :) Not to mention how small this sucker is, goes in my pocket with my cell phone just fine.. Can't say that about anything else I looked at..
Someone mentioned you can get better for less, i'd sure like to hear what offers high res and this much expansion.

I too have an SL10 and like it. While it has more major pros, but it has moderate cons compared to older PalmOS clones.
I have over 50 Megs of data on a memory stick, but its slower than an M500 by VFSMark benchmark.
The addressbook formating is off since it leaves a space for images, but with memory at a premium, this is an option that should be removable. Its a bit awkward to see compared to any Palm 3.
The default font is too small, needs a hack to fix it.
Despite its faster processor, it takes slightly longer for apps to boot even with apps in main memory compared to a IIIxe . It however, crunches numbers faster. Must be the remapping of the screen in hi-res.
The screen has a sweet spot angle, were it can be seen in most light. Its bad in dim conditions like dusk: not dark enough for the backlight, and not bright enough for ambient light. Its better than original Palms however, which you could not see at all in dim light with their indiglo backlights.
In toto, its small size, memory stick capacity, included software to maximize the memory stick functionality and hi res screen are without peer :D
Battery life: so far about 10 hours on NiMH or 3 hours of continuous Astrosmash use with backlight on.
There are quite extensive reviews on it on epinions.com
