m500 and m125 compatability

A friend of mine just bought an m125 for himself and an m500 for his wife. They want to use the two cradels at separate locations...one at home and another at his parents place. He told me he loaded the m125 desktop onto his pc with windows XP but the m500 would not sync. He tells me they are both running O/S 4.0 but I am still wondering if that isn't 4.0 for the m500 and 4.1 for the m125. Can anyone help me out here and give me some direction to go if it is possible? I am still fairly new to PDA's...thanks.

This should definitely be possible; I did the same thing for awhile with a M125 and M515. Note that they won't have a charger on the cradle that came with the M125, so they won't be charging up the M500 at that location, and they may want to consider disconnecting the charger when the M125 is in the cradle that came with the M500. (I don't know that this will cause a problem; I am merely recommending caution.)

Both computers that are used for this will have to be setup with the separate users; note that the user name entered into the Palm must be identical to the user name on the desktop. However, after that it should be reasonably straightforward.

Yes, it should sync... I'm baffled that it wouldn't in this case. I sync a m125, Visor Deluxe, and PalmPilot Personal, used to sync my old m105, and occasionally sync my daughter's IIIxe (to install programs) on one computer w/Palm Desktop 4.0.1 with no problems.

Thanks folks... I passed on the info... he said he actually did set them up as seperate users and such so I am thinking there may be something else going on here, but at least now he knows he should be able to do it. I will let everyone know when he gets it working...Thanks again:)

Sounds like your friend had a "WinXP/can't Sync" problem. Scope around PalmBlvd. There have been many discussions.

I regularly sync a Visor Prism (OS3.5) and an m500 (OS4.0) on a WinME computer without problems. I had to install the latest Palm Desktop from www.Palm.com, though.

Just for the record, I use my cradle to sync my wifes 125. I don't bother to disconnect the power cable. Haven't had any problems. I was a little nervous at first, but everything seems to be fine.

you need to see which software they are sycing with? do both of them ( m125 and m500 ) sync at the same time?

The latest desktop software from Palm seems to work fine. No you can't Sync both at the same time. It doesn't take long to Sync one then the other, since USB is pretty fast.
