FileNote official release. SIS file available for download on i-symbian (http://forum.i-symbian.com/cms.php).
FileNote, the brainchild of OPL Maestro Edo, is now available for download exclusively from i-Symbian.Com. For those unfamiliar with FileNote, you can read the excellent extended preview made by our friend, Xion. To sum it up, FileNote is a swiss-army utility designed to give more control on handling things on your Series 80 communicators. I've been told that if it's not for the limitation in the OPL Runtime in Series 80, Edo would have port ViewPlus stock and barrel to FileNote. To support his brilliant ideas, i-Symbian.Com made FileNote's SIS files available from our website. Please download it by clicking the screenshot below :
FileNote - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1) Install OPL runtime
FileNote is OPL written program and requires OPL runtime. The latest version of the OPL runtime can be found at :
http://opl-dev.sourceforge.net/opl9500.html
FileNote is optimized to best run with latest runtime version 1.56.
2) Install OPX libraries
Run supplied file "9500-opx-public-2006-11-01.sis". It contains all necessary (Symbian standard) OPX libraries.
3) When started first time, FileNote will create 3 folders:
C:\System\Apps\FileNote\Data\
C:\System\Apps\FileNote\Plugins\
C:\System\Apps\FileNote\Skins\
All "notes" (file descriptions) will be automatically stored in \Data\ folder. You will be able to create new file desscription databases and change/save old ones.
Several useful plugins like HexEditor.opo, Decompiler.opo, Compactor.opo, FreeCrypt.opo etc... are placed into \Plugins\ folder.
All "skin" files (colour configuration files) must be placed into \Skins\ folder.
"Default" skin will be automatically created after first start of FileNote. Also, you can place other skin files into this folder.
4) Installing plugins
Various plugin/macro files can be used from FileNote. Plugin files must be placed into \Plugins\ folder.
Press dot (.) in FileNote and you will get a Macro panel window. Create a shortcut to plugin file by pressing Ctrl+N or Enter on empty slot. Choose "Plugin". Name your shortcut. It's handy to assign a hotkey to it. You can run plugin either from Macro panel (with Enter or pressing a slot letter) or via hotkey (FileNote may be in the background).
For more detailed explanation of plugins use and creation, see supplied file "FNMacroLib_???.txt".
A lot more plugins/macros, skins and other useful info can be found on FileNote group (register to join):
