I have an IPAQ 3950 with a crucial 1Gb SD card in. Sometimes, normally at the most inconvenient times, the iapq fails to read the card. This is often after the machine has been shaken around - eg when I am using it cycling or walking on a very rutted path. Normally the only solution is to remove and replace the card then soft boot the ipaq.

Is this a common error, a failure of the ipaq or a dodgy card? Any advice?

Thanks

This is by no means a repair or something that I am advising you to do, but ........... my ipaq 2210 did exactly the same, I got so frustrated as mine could not read any of the cards, so I took the drastic action of opening the case as used an air line to blow out all of the dust (and there was an awfall lot!) after the dust settaled the PPC now works perfectly!

Thinking about it, its kept in your pocket for most of its life, so no wonder it picks up all that pocket fluff. (That sounds like a good name for a new ppc program).

If you do feel the need to try this drastic method then go carefull.
