USB as a standard supports serial. This is why I was asking. Unless the Zire uses a non standard USB connection that prevents slower serial communications? Any ideas? N_Jay 12-30-2002, 03:55 PM USB is "serial" but is not RS-232. Lots of companies make equipment that supports both, but it is not required in the USB standard. bettyboop 12-30-2002, 04:04 PM Thanks for your reply but again I am asking if the Zire supports RS 232 serial specifically or not. Not if USB is not RS 232 serial or if the Zire has only a USB port. The USB port can communicate and use a USB to an RS 232 cable as long as the manufacturer has built this into the design. All I would like to know is if support for rs 232 is built in or not. Most PDA's with USB support rs-232 as an added feature with the use of an adapter cable. Thanks PDA Street
