Just soft reset your unit, and then delete the file. It is most likely being used in memory by a player you use to play MP3's. Another way to delete a file with that error, is to rename it and then delete it. magnet 12-08-2002, 06:12 PM tried the rename, no go magnet 12-08-2002, 06:18 PM reset worked thanks. god im a newbie ;] snowflake 12-08-2002, 06:19 PM Originally posted by magnet tried the rename, no go I would always try a soft reset first, that's why I mentioned it first. I normaly rename a file I can't delete, if it's part of a .DLL in windows.. GL! bettyboop 12-08-2002, 07:39 PM Soft reseting closes all applications and free any associated files. On the desktop, typically if a file used being used by MS Word as an example, you cannot delete this file. Windows says the file is being used by another program or process. PocketPC does not tell you specifically that a program is currently using the file. Whenever you click the X on the top right of an open application, this only minimizes the application. It does not actually close the program. Go to Windows/settings/system and click memory. Then running programs do an individual stop or do a stop all. Then go to file explorer and then click/hold the file until the sub menu with delete appears. Now you should be able to delete the file. More work then doing a soft reset but at least you do not lose any presets by going the long route. In regards to renaming, this does not help if the file is open. Therefore you need to close the associated program and release the file at the same time. Good luck PDA Street
