Hi all,
is there a way to back up data from the contacts program to memory card and without a active sync connection? I can't seem to find the file where the contacts are located.
Any help would be appreciated.

Contacts are stored as a database file in the databases system folder:

Hi there,
thanks for the response, but I'm maybe not smart enough... I can't find a database system folder, nor can I find the database file ?!?!
Can it be that me Pocket PC (Amigo 600c) stores this info in ROM??
Thanks so much

My HPC came with a backup program, so I just run that.
If you don't have a BU app, then I suggest synchronizing with a PC, AND THEN doing appropriate selections and copies or backups or exports from Outlook on the PC.
A word of caution. I did a direct COPY of folders and files from Storage Card to PC Harddisk (by 'exploring' the handheld while connected in Activesync.). This is great for most things, but NONE of my database files came over. It seems this is because either there is no, or I did not have set up, a conversion capability for database files (similar to process for going between Word and Pocket Word).
In other words, direct copy did not work for me for Databases.
Good luck.

Thanks guys, but I don't have any luck with this. The trouble is that I'm away from any PC for long periods of time and I have to backup my contacts to a storage card. There MUST be some kind of contacts file. The Pocket PC is a computer and computers save their data in files... :)
The file must be hidden somewhere and is not user accesable - only if you have a Windows PC running to syncronize...
I would say we have a typical case of Microsoft here!
Ideas anyone?
Thanks

I assume your Amigo is different than my HPC device because I can see the database folder and it's content.
As noted by the previous responder, there are many many CE backup applications that allow backing up to CF cards. Have you looked here?:

My HPC device has Buseful Backup Plus installed in ROM which allows me to backup any/all of my CE to CF card.
Good Luck. . .
