Does anyone know if the TT and/or Real Player will support Bluetooth enabled headphones? It seams logical that the TT would support wireless headphones.

Word on the street is that this won't be possible. I don't know why, personally, but I can speculate:

Palm's bluetooth stack might not support the profile. There are very few Bluetooth HiFi stereo headsets out there. I myself have only found 1 manufacturer. I suspect its because compression is required to support high quality streaming audio over an 800KB pipe. It may be that a streaming audio profile isn't even available with the current bluetooth spec.

I'd sure like to find out more though. Anybody got any links I can follow to learn more about the bluetooth stack and it's implementation on the TT?

Sleuth,

Thanks for the feedback. Sound like you know what you are talking about. It would have been great functionality if would work.

Like I said, its speculation. But I am working to find out the facts. I too am very interested in a wireless stereo bluetooth headset configuration. I'll post here if I uncover anything.

Apparently, the bluetooth stack needs to be tweaked with a new profile called the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile. Here's a link to a June 20th article on this:

Bluetooth tweaked for consumer audio/video apps (http://www.commsdesign.com/story/OEG20020620S0046)

Techheads can get the details on this profile here (http://www.bluetooth.org/specifications.htm).

Scroll down to the additional profile specifications section; it's in PDF format.

It would seem that these devices won't appear until 2003. At any rate, a PalmOS upgrade would be required to support this IMO, perhaps even different hardware.

2003 looks like a fun filled year!:D
