Tungsten E2 charging query

Page 4 of the user manual is a little ambiguous. Can the E2 be charged solely by the USB cable? i.e. should there have been an "or" placed between 1a and 1b?

When I have the USB hot synch cable plugged into my computer the E2's battery icon does not show the charging zigzag. Is the battery being charged?

The battery charging zigzag icon only displays when the E2 is plugged either into my mains charger or 12v vehicle supply charger.

the usb will give what's called a trickle charge, i.e. it IS charging albeit slowly, and witha lower voltage than the Palm recognises as a charging voltage hence the lack of lightning.

If the battery is at the critical shutdown however [i.e. far too low] then I've found normally only the charger will suffice to get it back up and running.
