Could someone explain the back up battery to me? My wife checked her battery status and had 100% of primary and 100% of backup. She checked later and had 90% primary and 90% backup. Later, the backup was back to 100%.
Mine has done similar things, with the backup dropping to 80%, then up to 100%, now back to 80%.
I'm not too sure (since I don't have an axim yet) but I think that's normal for a lithium ion battery. How many times have you charged it? I've heard that it'll start to hold a better charge once it's been charged several times.. also, try to charge your axim whenever you can as lithium ions don't like to be deep cycled too much (i.e. completely drained and then charged).. they don't suffer from a 'memory effect' so charging them frequently won't hurt them.
What exactly is the backup battery? is that the small round battery that keeps your data intact when you remove the main/primary battery?

The backup batter is not a lith ion battery but a (watch) battery for a lack of a better term. The only time you will need the backup battery is when your primary battery is removed or at 0%. It is designed to maintain your memory when there is no power to the device. Worry about the backup when it is below 30%.

Sounds like what I was thinking, but my primary never got to 0%, so why did 20% of my backup get used?
I woudn't worry too much about it.. you could always call/email Dell and ask them about it.
