I am having troucbles syncing at work with Intellisync to Lotus Notes. I also sync at home to Palm Desktop with no problems. I get the "unable to complete request" error immediately and it will not sync the datebook, address, etc. but continues to back up datases. I have performed a hard reset as suggested on the Intellisync site but that did not fix the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

Close Hotsync.exe.
Go to Intellisync Palm Configure. Uncheck the box that is using Lotus Notes as a pipeline. Open the "Choose Translator" window and select <None>.
Go to Start/Programs/Startup and relaunch Hotsync.exe.
Now launch a HotSync operation on your Palm Pilot.
When the Hotsync clean-up has completed, once again close Hotsync.exe.
Go to Intellisync Palm Configure. Go to the unchecked box where you want to use Lotus Notes as the pipeline. Open the "Choose Translator" window and select Lotus Notes.
Go to Start/Programs/Startup and relaunch Hotsync.exe.
Now launch a HotSync operation on your Palm Pilot.
It should now synchronize without the "unable to complete request" Pilot Connector error.

I was told by {Palm that there is known issues with Win XP...If you're using XP, that might be why. They basically told me, you can't use XP. I have Palm 4.1 OS

This is the first I've read about hotsync not working with XP. I recently bought a new computer with XP and I cannot get it to sync with my I330 phone. I was able complete a sync with my M500, but that's not the Palm I use any more. I've tried everything but haven't found a solution yet. I posted a new thread about my problem today.

Well just so everyone who reads this knows... I have Windows XP Pro on my PC and I have had no problems syncing my M130 and i705... so I dont know what sort of "problems" they might be referring to. I have heard on other forums that certain notebooks apparently have a problem because they have only USB ports and no legacy serial ports. This somehow creates a problem between the Palm Desktop and Windows. Since I dont have one I am not sure about the source of this problem.

i too cannot sync with XP Pro (i have a Treo 270). i do not have a serial port in my PC, so perhaps this i the reason why the sync will not work.
does anyone know when palm will come out with an update so i can start syncing my handheld? do they sell old serial ports for newer PC's? perhaps a PCI card??

I upgraded to XP this spring and I have had no problems at all hotsyncing to Palm desktop and Outlook (via Chapura). The sync worked both with the Palm Desktop, which came on the CD and now I have downloaded the newest version (which incidentally has the same nr. 4.1 as the second newest) and both are fine.
I think there may be som setting in the XP, which is set wrongly, but as the installation went automatically on my desktop, I have no idea, what went wrong; but in conclusion: Palm desktop and sync software is XP-compatible.
Maybe You should remove the Palm software completely from your desktop and reinstall it from scratch? This sometimes helps.
Note: First time You hotsync to the XP, You get a message "Windows has found new hardware and is installing it" If this does not happen, I think the connection via the USB or serial port may be interrupted. Also remember to setup the hotsync to the correct connection.

I have removed the Palm software completely, and then rebooted, and then reinstalled, so many times now, I've lost count. I have tried installing 4.01 (which came with the Treo), uninstalling, cleaning out the registry, installing 4.1...
I got the "Windows has found new hardware" prompt, after which I get the "USB Device Not Recognized" prompt. No matter what I do, I cannot get past this.
I am convinced it is the serial port issue.

Tried the above......and did not work. Any other ideas. This is driving me nuts.

The process described earlier did not work for me. Here is my situation and resolution.
In my case the database on the device seemed to be corrupt. Everything EXCEPT the datebook would sync. I could not sync dates in the past or future so it did not seem to be a single entry issue.
I did not reset the device. Instead, I set the Datebook conduit to Import instead of sync. Additionally I checked the box for "Refresh". Import ran (took a while). I changed this back to sync and we are now able to do so without error.
I hope this helps.
