Hi,
My ipaq rz1710 has trouble syncing through the cable. everytime i connect it it says i need to check my proxy server settings or my modem settings. it works on infrared but its too slow that way. please help in anyway possible

What version of Activesync are you using? Make sure you select Allow USB Connection in desktop's Activesync Connection setting.

i'm using activesync 4.5 and i have usb transfer enabled

Several things to try, 1st soft reset the iPAQ and restart the desktop and try syncing again. Make sure Enable synchronize with a server option is not checked. If you are running firewall or security software, temporary disable it. Try another usb port on the desktop, especially the direct port not through the hub. You can also try reinstalling Activesync.
