Hi

I installed some software on my IPAQ this morning which made it unstable. I removesd the software from Settings but my IPAQ is still unstable (it won't get past a soft-reset). I managed to get it back to normal by pressing Calendar + iTask + Reset.

I suspect that uninstalling the program (a SIP panel) has not got rid of everything so I want to go in there and remove things manually.

I examined the CAB file which I used to install the program. All it contains is a ".000" and a ".001" file. Is there a utility somewhere to examine a ".000" file so I can see and reverse whatever it has done?

Any help is much appreciated.

Typically, to uninstall SIP, you will need to make sure that it is not selected as default SIP otherwise uninstall will not be able to delete files. The usual steps are change SIP to other method, soft reset, uninstall, and perhaps soft reset again.

Hi

So I've taken the plunge and performed a clean reset of my IPAQ 2590. Now it is much more responsive. All is looking good.

My question relates to ActiveSync. I wonder what will happen when I next pop it in it's cradle. Will ActiveSync want to create a new partnership even though it is the same device with the same ID? Will ActiveSync sinply re-initialise the partnership it already has with my device? If ActiveSync does vreate a new partnership, how do I get rid of the old one?

Any help is much appreciated.

To delete the partnership on your PC, open ActiveSync and click on File - Delete Partnership while the iPAQ is not connected. On the iAPQ, open ActiveSync, click on the Menu - Options menu item, arrow down to the Windows PC, click on the Delete button. Then when you sync, just create new partnership.
