Are there any other NokiA E61/E61i users here? I'm wondering how to make my E61 recognise when it already has a data connection...

The problem is this - if I start one app and let it connect (over WiFi or 3G, say) then start another app, the 2nd app fails to notice that there's already a connection active and asks to make one itself. This happens even if the two apps are set to use the same connection!

So how do I make a connection persistent - any ideas??

I think this is one of those typical things that are "left" from where the OS came from (Psion with Epoc). I have been a Psion user since 1992 and still use a netBook as my main travel PC and a e61. The two are a great combo. Exactly the same as with my netBook I have to tell per application which connection I want to use. The memory usage of all Epoc and Symbian devices is very very efficient and all use a very small foot compared to e.g. Windoze Mobile or CE. My guess is that establishing the connection at application level is something that allows the memory foot to be this small.

Ah, OK - thanks for the info. Unfortunately it makes me realise how much I still miss my Palm TX!!

In fact, I might just upgrade my data connection after all (another £5 a month) so I can go back to using two excellent devices instead of one good one....

It turned out that I don't need to pay more to upgrade my data connection - I can use this one with a second device after all. However, while it works fine from the laptop to the E61, I simply cannot get it to work with my Palm TX. It's been driving me mad..... Argh!!

So did you ever find a solution to including the Palm?

Sadly not, I can get the Palm to connect via my Nokia E61 to GPRS via my spare SIM, but can't get a 3G connection working on my main SIM. I am in contact with the techies at the network (3UK) though so when I've a bit of free time, I will dig a bit further.

Someone did mention that they heard the Palm TX doesn't support 3G, but I find that difficult to believe - after all, it's just a Bluetooth network connection via the phone, surely? Hmm!
