I think I have been searching most FAQs and looked into a lot of different forums; but even as I try to do exactly as told, I can not move some programs to my device.
They were downloaded from sources, which claimed them to be compatible with Windows Smartphones 6; but if I try to move them to the phone using drag and drop, a "no entry" sign appears, and when i try to copy them using copy and paste, the paste choice is blanked out on the screen.
Does this mean, that the programs are incompatible with my device? or am I doing something wrong?

Where do you try to copy the file? After you activesync the phone, click Explorer on desktop activesync then copy and paste. Also make sure you do not uncompress or rename the cab file, copy it to the phone as is. If you still have problem, look for desktop installer, and run it on the desktop after you activesync the phone, it will be installed for you.

:(
I may be a little slow understanding this system.
I tried to copy the files to the root directory of the device, as I could see no other more logical places to put them.
I was very familiar with the desktop installer on my late, lamented Palm; but I can not see, that a similar program did come with the Windows Mobile. It is not in any of the folders in Active sync. There is an Add/Remove programs, but no concievable way to add new programs to the list as far as I can see.
Is the installer an extra program to install on the desktop? Who provides it? Or is there a way to put new programs into the above mentioned function?
I am still quite confused, and certainly only moderately satisfied with this Microsoft product.

After you copy the cab file to the device, open file explorer on the device, browse to where the cab file is and click on it to install.
The developer of the software or the store where you bought it from should be able to provide you with desktop installer.
