Hi all.

In my never ending quest for freeing up memory I am removing unused programs where possible.

One of these programs is entitled.............. dpManager.exe and the program can be viewed by accessing it through the desktop/ActivSync and selecting 'Explore" and there it is as large as life (in my Documents folder), but what the hell does it do???

It takes up 190KB.

Regards

It may be from dotPocket screen rotation, remote control utility.

Hi AD.

I have never had that program installed but I did have a screen rotator I think it was called something like Nyidad or something sounding like that which I have long ago removed.

What do you think, O.K to remove; in other words, is it critical to the every day function of my PDA?

You could use the Resco Registry Editor to search for dpManager in the registry. That would show you any associated apps. You could also check the Windows\StartUp folder to see if it lauches at startup. If you find nothing, odds are it is an orphan.

Finally, do a backup (just in case), rename the file by making a slight change (such as the first letter), and do a soft reset. If everything functions smoothly, you can delete the file or move it to a memory in case you need it in the future.

Thanks yankeejeep, they sound like good suggestions. I will try them out tomorrow, but to-night it's TV :-)

There is (or was) a program out there called Display Picture Manager, which you can read about at http://forum.mess.be/index.php?showtopic=12149&mode=threaded
I have no details but I think this might also be the file you found.

Hi there.

Thanks steveg23 you may be right as I did install a lot of rubbish onto the PDA soon after I acquired it.

Anyway, I searched through all the files and anything else I could think of and found no other reference to the program nor did it appear in the Program Add/Remove panel, so I just extracted it to the PC desktop and off the PDA. If required I can always put it back where I got it from.

So far I have not experienced any problems and I have tested every program and function that I know of on the PDA.

Regards :D
