Hi guyz,
I just received my dopod and am shocked to find there is no mention of an alt tab function anywhere :eek: I know I can switch current and shut down the software from the memory tool in settings, but this method seems crazy!
Couple of questions:
Am I just missing something ? Is there an alt tab function and how do you use it?:confused:
If additional software is required, do you guyz know of any freeware which will do the job? I would also like to know any good freeware sites for pocket pc software, you guyz visit, I have searched google but just want to see what you ppl rekon is a good place for it.
About updating the firmware. I have this file which I think is the correct one "838PRO.SEA.ENG.WM6.Upgrade.20070712.rar". The device I have is the Dopod 838 Pro (Australia). It is currently running WM 5.0.
I have visited www.dopodasia.com site, and when you go to the members section, it redirects to a HTC members area. After going through this process I have recieved strange characters on the page which shows my details(after signup), it looks like this (if they even work with cut n paste):

Home嚗?BR> ex:02-12345678
Work嚗?/TD>
Then when I try and modify to add in the s/n on my new device, i recieve:
System error , Please contact to system manager.
Now I know there is really nothing you guyz can do, as obviously the issue is at HTC end. But I find it pretty strange and extremly poor form on their part. Also if I just goto HTC.com and sign it all up from there (which is a similar looking members site but actually different) I am able to register my phone and everything looks good, except when I go to download the firmware i get "page cannot be found" on the HTC europe FTP host for the file!!! Cant believe it! So far I am unimpressed with both HTC and Dopod sites, especially with this deceiving members section which looks the same but is not.
All of this does not really bother me that much as long as I have the correct frimware stated above which I got from another website. I have read that I may loose some features if I upgrade with this firmware, is this true and if so what does the generic software package exclude and is it worth upgrading to WM6?
Sorry to write such long posts and lots of questions, any help is much appreciated. I intend to have input into this forum once I have some PDA experience & knowledge:o
