I own a Palm Tungesten E & wish to purchase a new better model such as HTC. The shop in JB, Malaysia. says the Palm OS is not compatible with Windows after trying very hard for 5 hrs. Hence I cannot transfer about 2900 addresses and other numerous memos information in my present PDA to my new one. Can someone pls advise me on any compatible model or how I can transfer valuable infor to a new PDA which uses Windows OS. Tks

If you synchronize your Palm with Microsoft Outlook, your data should automatically transfer to any Windows Mobile device when you install Active Sync.

Are you running Palm Desktop on your laptop? 3rd party software such as PocketCopy
http://www.chapura.com/pocketcopy.php
can copy data from Palm Desktop to Outlook. You may also be able to do this manually by export it to a common text format and import them into Outlook.

If I'm not mistaken, the Tungsten E comes bundled with software to sync with Outlook. On the Palm setup utility on the cd, you are asked if you want to sync with Palm Desktop or with Microsoft Outlook. If you select Microsoft Outlook, then the software is installed automatically.

I would recommend running the Palm setup program again and choose Outlook to synchronize with. When running HotSync the first time, the data should go from the Tungsten E to Outlook.

Tks Dwinget. I tried running the Palm set up progam again & have chosen Outllok. The problem now is that items logged in the laptop can syn to my Palm Tungsten & not the other way around. Why?

I suspect that you need to change some of the HotSync options. You need to right-click the HotSync icon in the trey area of your Windows desktop and choose Custom from the menu. The option for each of the items should be "synchronize the files". The Change button will allow you to modify the settings. Click on the Default button when you are done changing each setting. Click the Done button when you want to exit. You can then run HotSync. Good luck!

Tks a lot. I did that but the syn only works on the Laptop PC Outlook contacts , calender etc to the handheld & not vice versa. Also after each syn I recd the following: "You nd to reset yr h/held by tapping the button below." Irritation!!
As for the Avantgo, each time I open it on my h/held the "Fatal alert" sign appears. Another irritation!! Could it be due to the Laptop PC having the latest Avantgo software, which I downloaded recently
