Hello- I have an HP iPAQ 4155 and the screen went out. We have choosen to not replace the screen. Since this has been used for our business, I'm wondering if there is a way to wipe out the hard drive on this, with out being able to use the screen? Thanks

Which OS version do you have installed? If WM2003SE or older, follow the instructions for a hard reset in your documentation and then use the file manager to delete files in the safe store area. If you have WM5 or 6, follow the instructions for a clean reset.

There is no hard drive in your device. You have volatile memory (RAM) that requires battery power to maintain its contents and non-volatile memory that is stable with or without power supplied. The hard or clean reset routines are intended to get the device back to out-of-box condition. Since the safe store uses a portion of non-volatile memory for protected storage, make sure you manually delete the files stored there, either before or after the reset is done.

A soft reset does not erase any stored files. It is like a warm boot of your desktop computer. Make sure you do not simply follow the steps for a soft reset or everything on the device will remain, whether apps or data files.

To hard reset it and restore the content to original condition (there is no hard drive in your iPAQ), Hold down the power button and push soft reset button at the same time.

Thanks for the clear up on the fact that there is not hard drive. This was not mine, so I had no idea, I was just asked to make sure all files are deleted. Thanks for your help.

So that is how you reset it. I was wondering how to do that.
