I have a MobilePro 770 which I have not used for the last few years. I have several PCMCIA cards including a 264MB Calluna hard disk card. I also have a Dell notebook that does not support PCMCIA, only a Smart card. I was thinking, how can I use the 770 as an I/O device connecting the 770 to the dell and use the PCMCIA interface as a port on the Dell notebook? I have a docking station but no longer have any manuals etc., to indicate this can be done.
Any ideas?

For your device, you will need to connect to the desktop through Activesync either with cable or wifi and you will see the mobilepro through activesync Explore. But activesync will not be able to handle large files.
For manuals and other information see

What wifi card is recommended? My notebook is wireless to RoadRunner and a Linksys router. Where can I find info on how to connect the 770 and router? Thanks. I will look a the web site you posted.

Unfortunately My Dell does not have a serial port so wifi is my only recourse.

You will need to first establish activesync partnership with laptop through serial or ir port before you can establish wifi connection.

Nor does the Dell have an IR port. Looks like I will not be able to use the 770 for my application! The newer notebooks are moving away from connections such as IR and PCMCIA and onto USB2, Firewire and Express cards.

I think we are going to see that everything is going to become automated updates. I could see this being how they try to eliminate hacks.

You mean my post? I was just stating that a lot of the pda's and cell phones will be going to wireless updates as a way to eliminate hackers.
